Library

The Mount Tamar School Library is an integral part of the learning program of the school.

The Librarian will collaboratively plan and teach with classroom teachers.

Activities will be offered that will

  •  arouse curiosity

  •  develop creativity and imagination

  •  encourage collaboration and co-operation

  •  involve students in planning and participating in fun events and displays

  •  promote reading for leisure as well as educational purposes.

  •  promote digital citizenship and safety

  • The impact of new technology on children and new forms of media is a constant area of concern, being a good digital citizen within the online community includes anything from learning email etiquette to how to prevent and report cyber-bullying. Digital citizenship also includes learning about safety concerns like how to protect private information and how to stay safe while communicating online.

The vision of Mount Tamar School Library is a library flowing with innovation, collaboration, curiosity, adaptability, critical inquiry, and transliteracy.

  • Transliteracy is the ability to read, write and interact across a range of platforms, tools and media from signing and orality through handwriting, print, TV, radio and film, to digital social networks

Our Mission:

Our mission is to provide both space and resources for the development of a lifelong love of reading, innovative thinking, competent research skills, enthusiastic readers, offer forward-thinking instruction that develops leaders and seekers of knowledge who engage the world through all types of media.

The Mount Tamar Library, empowering and connecting students as individuals, to provide resources and assistance for all different learning styles, to encourage self-motivated, lifelong learning.
