Student Council - St. Wilfrid's R.C. CollegeMount Tamar School Parliament

The Mount Tamar Parliament helps determine the future direction and focus of Mount Tamar School and creates an important connection between pupils and staff, ensuring their voices as Mount Tamar students are being acted upon.

The role of parliament provides the opportunity for students to be educated and equipped for future roles outside of education.  Students will learn how they can effectively and efficiently carry out their responsibilities for the benefit of all. The role of parliament also brings out the students' leadership qualities for higher responsibilities in future.  Serving in the Parliament will develop greater awareness of the rights of others, and what it means to work for not just your own goals but for those of your fellow students as well.
MPs will be elected as a representative by their respective tutor groups. The thirteen student Representatives will consist of one student from each tutor group, one representative from Aspire provision and one Residential representative. Their purpose will be to debate school issues and new school proposals.
Cabinet members are elected annually. This group is led by the Student Prime Minister and will represent the school in events and offsite meetings and meet regularly with the school Leadership team.
Cabinet members take part in a residential to look at democracy and student voice in other schools and countries.
