Rewards

Mount Tamar School is excited to announce our new system for rewarding all the hard work our students put in, day after day.

As of November 2021, every week students have chosen from some incredible reward activities: and now we're rolling out even more!

This system of rewarding our students has had such a huge impact on the learning of our young people, that we are extending the scheme.

All students are now enrolled in the 'Behaviour Bank'. Every week, student behaviour is assigned a monetary value. This can be redeemed in exchange for vouchers for websites or local experiences.

Friday Reward Activities

How It Works

Every lesson, pupils earn points towards their reward activity on Friday afternoon.

These reward points are totalled up every week. The more points a pupil has, the sooner they will get to choose their Friday reward activity. Each activity has limited places, so only the top scorer from each class is guaranteed a place on whichever activity they want. To represent this, these 7 hard working pupils are given a golden ticket!

Friday Reward Activities

Staff run a myriad of reward activities for the students. This year we have run many events, including:

  • Trips to local attrections such as Adrenaline, and Plymbridge
  • Trampolining at Supertramp
  • Multi-Sports
  • Fifa & Pool Tournament
  • Film Club
  • Great MT Bake Off
  • Geocaching
  • Quizzes
  • Boardgames
  • 3D Construction / Lego
  • Origami & Paper Crafts
  • Art Attack: Painting & Drawing
  • Wii Sports
  • PC Gaming
  • Pamper Time
  • Terrain Making Masterclass
  • And many many more...

But remember: each activity has a limited number of places. The more points a pupil has, the more likely it is that there will still be a place on their favourite activity.

How to Score Points

Every lesson, students can score points by following our 5 School Rules.

These rules are:

  • Follow Staff Instructions

  • Speak politely and calmly

  • Look after our school and our equipment

  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself

  • Try your best and ask for help if you are stuck

This means that students can score up to 5 points each lesson, that's 25 points each day. We expect our students to score at least 85% of the points that are available to them. That means that everyone who scores 85% or more will get to choose a reward activity, and will have the opportunity to spend or bank on the rewards menu.

Students who do not achieve 85%, will have to 'Catch Up' on the learning they missed. Once they've done this, they will join their classmates on the rewards activities.

You can find the school poster of Our School Rules at the bottom of this page.

The Behaviour Bank

How It Works

Every week, students' scores are given a monetary value - the higher their percentage, the greater the value. The thresholds are:

  • Students who score 85%.
  • Students who score 90%.
  • Students who score 95%.

Once students have earned their '🝗' credits, they can choose to spend that value on a voucher for a website or a local experience. Students can also choose to save or 'bank' that value, so that they can get an even bigger reward later on!
