Mount Tamar school -  News


[edit] Server News - 04/02/10

The two 'new' servers are now taking the full load of the Mount Tamar School services. The old servers are now going to be reconfigured and brought into use to do a number of background tasks.

The WhiteList filtering system is now up and running. Staff and pupils need to remember that, 'only those websites on the whiteList' can be accessed by pupils. If a member of staff requires a website to be opened up then Mr Berry needs to be sent an email with the details and confirmation that the site has been checked.

All pupils (and staff NOT using the staff proxy) will need to change their proxy from 10.83.133.3:3128 to proxyserver:3128 if they want to use the Internet. In addition Mount Tamar School pupils only have access to the whitelisted list of web sites. Staff need to contact Mr Berry with any web site they want pupils to have access to.

The staff proxy has been switched off, but if a member of staff requires access to the staff proxy they need to take their laptop to Mr Berry. Can we remind staff that NO pupils should have any access to staff laptops at any time and for any reason.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused but there have been too many pupils abusing the filtering system.

Mount Tamar School -  Main Departments

John Chard Center

The John Chard Center (JCC) is the primary department of Mount Tamar School. At the end of Key Stage 2 pupils either return to main stream education or transfer to the secondary department.

Hamoaze House

Hamoaze House is where Mount Tamar Schools' off site facility for pupils in Key Stage 4 is based.

Mathematics Department

Mount Tamar Mathematics Department is a progressive, forward looking, cohesive department; striving for success through effective teaching and learning.

ICT Department

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department at Mount Tamar School prides itself on being a forward thinking, an 'ahead of the game' department where pupils are introduced to the latest hardware and software at the earliest possible opportunity.

Remember: “Children cannot be effective in tomorrow’s world if they are trained in yesterday’s skills” - this statement was made by 'Her Majesties Inspectors' (HMI) in 1998 and it is as important today if not more so!
