Street Factory

What is Street factory:
"Transforming Lives? So they exceed their Potential & Fall in Love with their Purpose!"

Street Factory is a Hip Hop Company where we deliver workshops-sessions with young people, many of whom are not in Training, Education, employment, and young people who are struggling to fit and engage in main stream society. We Share a belief in their capabilities and the possibilities for their growth and development with us. We work hard in helping them develop not just as individuals, but also as a group and going further we constantly reinforce the belief that they, as a group, have a duty and responsibility to the community around them. This belief is echoed within all the work we do. We instil a sense of pride in the young people and this is our foundation and true Ethos. We help them to rise to the challenges their life puts in front of them and we teach them a new way to react to the difficulties they face. We free their minds and channel their internal fight into something positive, using Hip hop dance, mentoring, as a tool to empower them and build their aspirations, giving them Hope! We improve their health & well-being, preventing the exclusion of young people on the edge of society, unlocking their individual potential, challenging and changing stereotypical perceptions. All our workers feel fulfilled once they empower the young people, ensuring that they have the chance to be the best they can be, doing something they love, no matter what their backgrounds are! We have found they just want to feel engaged and valued, being supported to make a difference and in some cases make tomorrows better than today, and we give them the tools and life skills to make this a reality. We Teach to Teach, Mentor, and we know knowledge is something you should share, giving them opportunities to shape their futures. We use Hip Hop to build their aspirations and self-belief, encouraging them to turn their passions into a profession and gave hope to those who felt disconnected from their dreams. Many are now in Training-Employment or Further Education.

The students’ progress:
At the beginning the students struggled with the way we teach and pass on knowledge, we had ups and downs! We have such high expectation in all young people we work with and through us supporting, empowering and believing in them, and being consistent with our praise! They began to trust us and that was when their behaviours began to change towards us and each other, there began to be a Respect in the room. Their progress has been outstanding, in 2015 they showcased their talents to their peers and family @ school of creative arts Theatre and everyone involved were so proud of their accomplishments! We are now working towards a further showcase in 2016, where again they will get a chance to Shine!

Relationships:
The staff support us 100% and they have welcomed our whole team into the school, and we are learning from one another and there is a Fantastic mutual Respect for each other's work and practice.

Environment changes (how that impacts students and school)
There has been a transformation in the look of the school, this investment has given the school a facelift and it feels bright , energised and welcoming !
This has had a knock on effect with the staff and students, and created a more positive environment for learning!

Students overall behaviour:
This year the students have engaged with us, shown true dedication and Respect! We feel there was a Legacy from last year which has given the students a foundation for this year, and they have stepped up and risen to our high expectation!
Feeling so Proud
